One of the things I’ve learned from many wildlife is that how patient you have to be to be able to eat for the day. I was at Brazos Bend State Park in Texas several years ago and was spending probably about 2 hours with this Yellow Crowned Night Heron. It was early summer in Texas, and it was very humid and hot at the swampy park.
During those 2 hours, mostly he was waiting for prey to come close to him, standing like a statue. Waiting, waiting, waiting … then yawned. Probably bored?
But his patience paid off. At the end he caught a frog for his dinner.
