Red-Crowned cranes are a symbol of luck and longevity in Japan. For hundreds of years, humans depicted them in drawings, on the patterns of Kimonos, on home decors, everywhere. At the same time, their number decreased dramatically – and about 100 years ago they were considered extinct. Local people in Hokkaido never gave up on them. Thanks to their steadfast efforts, their numbers are coming back. I hope the year 2019 will bring you the best of luck and happiness.
