An orphaned bird or not – Knowing about the baby bird on the ground

A Blue Jay fledgling was in the middle of his flight lesson under a canopy tree on a spring day in Cypress, Texas.

Every year in the spring, we have a few fledglings (young birds that have grown their flight feathers to make the first flight) on their flight lessons in our yard. What many people do not know when they find feathered young birds on the ground is that it’s possible that they are not orphaned birds.

The Woodlands Market Street Spring Art Show

A bald cypress forest from Caddo Lake, Texas, is one of my images displayed as a canvas wrap at The Woodlands Market Street Fine Art Show.   It’s time for one of my most favorite art shows in the greater Houston area – The Woodlands Market Street Spring Fine Art Show! As a nature lover, I admire The Woodlands — a beautiful town designed to incorporate native nature and trees in its landscape. As the community has developed, the town retained many trees originally growing on the land instead of knocking them down. I always enjoy their nice shade under the canopy of trees and a feeling of being surrounded by nature everywhere I go. This Saturday many local artists (me too!) showcase their art at a Central Park in the town of The Woodlands. Here is the information of The Woodlands Market Street Fine Art Show – When: May 6, 2017 From 10am to 7pm (If it’s rained out, the show will be held on May 13 instead. ) Location:  Central Park at Market Street (9595 Six Pines Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77380, the park is at the center of the shopping area). Check out the map here . Hope I see…

Photo Of The Day: A Moon Over Lake Somerville, Texas

A moon was softly shining in twilight, creating a dreamy atmosphere at Lake Somerville State Park, Texas.

I visited Lake Somerville State Park in Texas a week ago and found out that they were still suffering from the damages brought by heavy rain in this May and October. Lots of trees were still submerged in water, and most parts of the park were closed. It rained a lot this year in Texas, and many parks had to close for a while — Hope Lake Somerville will recover from the damages soon.   Regardless of the limited accessibility at the park, I was able to enjoy the beauty of Somerville Lake. I found a bald eagle flying in the middle of a trail, being ready for fishing in the lake. And the sunset color reflecting on the lake was so beautiful! With a moon shining in the sky, the scene was very dreamy and serene.   Click image or go to the link below for larger image: http://www.ellieteramoto.com/photo/dreamy-moon-night-lake-somerville-texas/   Thank you for viewing!
